Over a year ago my good friend had her cousin visiting and another high school friend was home as well. We decided to go out and ended up at JJ Foleys...again.
As soon as we sat down we realized we were next to a couple of cute/interesting guys. One was a dark haired man in his early 30’s and one had light brown hair, late 30’s. Late 30’s dude we will call CIA...because he worked for the CIA!
CIA looked like the marrying type but he had no ring and said he was single. In my experience, you can’t always tell if someone is in some way committed but I really hate playing that game. If you’re married wear your ring, or don’t be married! Although, thanks to Prince William, the non ring wearing trend may continue.
So although I found the younger friend of CIA slightly arrogant and he didn’t like Foley’s (GASP), I did find CIA rather suave plus, he was Southern (WINNING). Southern guys are always nicer than Northern guys even while going after the same things. So after some discussion, CIA's friend invited us back to his condo because he said he had one of my favorite things, roof top deck...but sadly, no dog.
Even though it was winter in the South End I thought this is a FANTASTIC idea as I was super energized and I wanted to ask CIA more about what he does. I’m not sure which branch of the government he now works with but at this point he was talking about his time in the CIA, not sure if you’re supposed to do that but he wasn’t really going into detail and I also liked his voice. He sipped bourbon/whiskey straight up, kind of sexy. Oh and he showed me his badge and I knew it was legit which kind of made me wonder how our post 9-11 government was handling showboating CIA agents who are trying to use their position to get laid.
So we walked to their place at this point no one was interested in anything romantical and this was purely one of jaunts post bar to visit new friends and well I already mentioned that it was roof deck time. His place was breathtaking.
Note: no wine in his place – faux pas
We got blankets and went up to what I can only describe as the most insane roof top deck I have every been on, I have actually been on quite a few and this one was like a whole other area of square footage and living space. Fully furnished with, a fire pit. I sat with my friends on a couch and CIA sat one gal away from me but I soon made them switch because I want to ask him more question, there were also only minor flirtations. Then all of a sudden we are alone!
Even if I wasn’t picking up on a vibe (I can be oblivious) everyone else must have been. We did end up snogging. He could definitely kiss, knee buckling kisses. Meanwhile, down below his friend had told my friends to leave me!
Now according to girl code, you never leave a woman behind, so there was no way they were going to hit the deck just yet. However, they also knew that had I wanted to be left there I would have made that clear…I’m a lady! And anyway he was a bit of a boob grabber and frankly we could be seen on this roof so I’d like to some semblance of respectability. So after I got wind of his plan I skedaddled downstairs. Had I been drunk I probably would have stayed. The view was amazing and it was quite the Lifetime movie moment with the blankets and fire.
On the ride home I stuck my face out of the cab to feel the cold air prickle my skin. It made me feel alive. When I do stupid things, like go back with people to see their dogs and their roof decks, I do it because it is fun and exciting. To do something out of your normal routine really makes you feel in the moment and vibrant. I think that is perhaps why so many younger/stupider girls make poor decisions. Its like a rush, like a drug when you’re out on your own making your own rules up as you go. If you want to go home with someone or you want to bungee jump or ride on the back of a motorcycle, its all the same end really.
Thankfully, these excursions are always with friends and even in my worst moments I'm still a fairly good decision maker...so far.
I had planned for a blog on irrational fears but I had this written up a while ago and I was too busy today to finish...will finish tonight and post tomorrow...keep your eyes out for any Southern James Bond wannabees in the mean time!
